“The only thing holding you back is who you think you’re not.”
For the longest time, I categorized myself as “too shy” or “I’m not someone who can do that.” But the moment you identify yourself as something , you’re also holding yourself back from who you actually are or meant to be. I recently read this post that said, “Be not attached to who you are, so you can become all that you are meant to be.” So, don’t box yourself in thinking you can’t be this or that. Just feel what you think is right or what you want to do, and follow the signs and take actions toward it!
“You don’t lose. You either win, or you learn.”
Failure is an inevitable part of life, but what matters after a set back is how we stand up from it. Also, approaching life in a healthy manner is all about perspective. If you don’t like something, change it; but if you can’t change it, then change the way you think about it. That will make all the difference!
“With experience comes confidence.”
There are many moments where I’ve felt small or inadequate. One of the key moments I remember was when I first started filming weddings at 17 years old. I had a strong background in video-editing, but I was still new to filming and talking to clients. I identified myself as shy too, and it was a big learning curve for me to become confident in myself and my skills. However, we have to remember that whenever we pick up something new – we can’t expect to be amazing. It’s normal to suck or mess up a lot in the beginning, but the more we do it, and the more consistent we practice – the better we’ll become, and eventually we won’t be afraid to put ourselves out there!
“Your beliefs become your thoughts,
Your thoughts become your words,
Your words become your actions,
Your actions become your habits,
Your habits become your values,
Your values become your destiny.”
This one is super powerful because everything starts with your thoughts. Words are incredibly powerful, and the way you talk to yourself and think about situations will alternate and create your entire reality. This is just something to be mindful of, especially if you tend to have negative thoughts or a self-destructive personality (aka me sometimes). Next time you catch yourself being negative, try your best to turn it into a positive affirmation! You are loved. You are worthy. You are deserving. You are beautiful. You are radiating. You are full of light! Talk to yourself like you’re your own best friend!
